Neroli Or Orange Blossom Essential Oil

Neroli is an almost narcotic smelling oil that intoxicates the senses. Its scent is sweet, and aromatic with citrus notes that are intensely exotic with a floral tone. Neroli is steam distilled from the orange tree  known by its botanical name as Citrus Aurantium. It is one of the most widely used floral oils in perfumery as it’s considered non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing, and non-phototoxic. It blends well with any citrus oil and various floral absolutes.  It is the most costly of citrus essential oils, but a little goes a long way. Use this precious oil sparingly. The use of Neroli and orange blossoms go back to Ancient Egypt. The word Neroli was taken from a French Italian princess, Anne-Marie de la Tremoille who was the Countess of Nerola. She used the oil for perfume and cologne. Neroli was also used by the Ancient Egyptians to heal the mind, body and spirit.

This is probably why today the calming oil is used for depression, anxiety and shock. Neroli essential oil is all about staying in the present moment and not worrying over the past or the future. For us to manifest what we want we must be completely in our power and be present energetically in the moment. It is said that anxiety— particularly anxiety attacks are produced when we separate our mind and body to the point where we start to panic. This is because we are literally in two different places. Neroli brings us back to one plane quickly and provides protection as well. It is a very relaxing oil. A good way to use Neroli for relaxation are these methods.

Apply several drops (2-4) on location
Apply to chakras/vitaflex points
Directly inhale
Diffuse or
Rub neroli oil on the feet first. This allows the body to get used to the temperature of the oil and starts the aromatherapy process.
Interestingly enough –Neroli has antispasmodic properties and can ease menstrual cramps, P.M.S. and help with labor as the oil is considered to be antispasmodic and hypertensive, meaning it lowers blood pressure. Neroli is also antibacterial, an antidepressant, anti-infectious, antiparasitic, antiseptic, antiviral, and even an aphrodisiac. For those with mature skin this soothing oil is wonderful as it nourishes the skin even helping to heal scars and stretch marks. This rejuvenating oil also helps skin maintain the right moisture, and works at the cellular level to shed old skin cells and stimulates new cell growth. Rub Neroli on stretch marks, age spots or scars with helps stimulate skin cells to regenerate, which helps eliminate scars and stretch marks.

Remember to keep Neroli by your bedside as it is a great remedy that works as a natural tranquilizer for anxiety, distress, anger, depression, panic and shock. It is calming and relaxes the body and can help to strengthen and stabilize emotions and bring relief to what seems a hopeless situation. Neroli encourages, confidence, courage, joy and peace.
